It can be very frustrating to us when we become restricted to do things what we have done for many years and worse when we feel dependent on others. Sometimes we get depressed about being helpless and dependent on others. These are some the emotions we go though when we are stuck in a wheelchair.

By using a lightweight wheelchair we can begin to lead a normal as a life as possible. Due to its lightweight we have more options and fewer limitations to what we can do and where we can go. A more independent person we can become again.

There are many advantages to having a lightweight wheelchair compared to the older and more traditional wheelchairs. First is the fact that the wheelchair is light hence the name lightweight wheelchair. Typically lightweight wheelchairs can weigh less than 20lbs against a much heavy traditional wheelchair. So the wheelchair user can enjoy the freedom and ease of movement due to weight savings.

Lightweight wheelchairs have the advantage that they can still use batteries and as they are so light are ideal for patients or users that are generally weak and find it hard to move them around.

AS the wheelchair is battery operated and improves the users mobility the wheelchair is more for a specialist type of chair, and the wheelchair will give the end user mobility with minimum effort.

Lightweight wheelchairs have been out in the market for quite sometime and this is helpful as traditional wheelchairs are very awkward to handle. If you look closely you will find that most lightweight wheelchairs are marked with the code K0004 which is a medical code and will generally cost less than the others.

Lightweight wheelchairs are cheap compared to other forms of wheelchairs so you should consider its actual function carefully. Also compare the accessories that come with the wheelchair as they can be a great help to the user.

He is a few pointers to consider before buying a wheelchair:

Most lightweight wheelchairs are light and is great for moving people around as they weigh far less.

Lightweight wheelchair parts are easy changeable as they are normally detachable such as back and arm rests and the seat itself.

See if your wheelchair has changeable tires, preferably don't buy wheelchairs that require the whole wheel to be removed as this can be trouble some.
