Obesity or the accumulation of fat or excessive fleshiness as it has been termed is certainly a situation demanding immediate attention. Obesity has therefore a negative impact on life and of course on quality of life in both a physical as well as psychological context. Undoubtedly, overeating is held as a primary cause of obesity. Eating habit, eating more food than necessary and certainly consuming foods, which are high in calories, are said to be the reasons of obesity. Modern research shows that even the amount of times one eats in a day has the capability to influence obesity. Addressing obesity and treating obesity is therefore the need of the hour.

What causes obesity?

Obesity occurs when the body consumes more calories than it burns. In the past people thought obesity was simply due to over-eating and lack of exercise. However research has identified a number of other factors including genetics, race, age and behavioural and social issues. Even with all these other factors now identified, physicians still strongly believe that over consuming high calorie fatty foods and a lack on physical activity is the main cause.

What problems can obesity cause?

Obesity can cause a number of physical problems as well as psychological problems. Physical problems include difficulties breathing, running or walking, increased sweating and body pains to name a few. It is also common for people who suffer from obesity to develop one or more of the following conditions.
1.    Cardiovascular disease

2.    High cholesterol

3.    High blood pressure

4.    Type 2 diabetes

Obesity Treatment and Advice

1.    Avoid intake of too much salt as it may be a factor for increasing body weight.

2.    All kinds of milk products-cheese, butter, and non-vegetarian foods should be avoided as they are rich in fat. Be sufficient with twice a glass of milk.

3.    Avoid rice and potato, which contain a lot of carbohydrates. Among cereals wheat is good.

4.    Avoid high calorie foods like chocolates, ice cream, sweets, butter, heavy refined foods which have high calories.

5.    Avoid meals when under stress or tension.

6.    Stop taking bread prepared with wheat alone as the key ingredient. An ideal mixture must consist of whole grams flour and soyabeans.

Home remedies for Obesity

1.    Make a mixture of 1/4 teaspoon powdered black pepper, 3 teaspoon lime juice, and 1 teaspoon honey in 1 cup water. Drinking this mixture for 3-4 months may be helpful in weight loss for obese and overweight people.

2.    Every morning drink a glass full of water mixed with lime juice and some honey. You could add 1 teaspoon of lime juice and 1 teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water.

3.    Drink a glass of water with 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice every morning for 3-4 months.

4.    Eating a tomato in the morning before breakfast for 3 to 4 months may be helpful in weight loss for obese and overweight people.

5.    Eating 10-12 fully grown curry leaves every morning for 3 to 4 months may be helpful in weight loss for obese and overweight people.

6.    Eat a variety of foods from the list of fat burning foods.

7.    Eat 2 red tomatoes daily in the breakfast can help in your weight loss efforts.
