Sometimes you might encounter a task which takes quite a long time to finish. These include for example organizing your garage, basement or even your master closet. In order to get those organizational tasks finished, there are certain ways you can make break them to more manageable pieces. This article describes how to handle the big tasks related to home organization easier and with less stress. Break it into smaller chunks Try to figure out ways to break the one big task into smaller tasks. This ensures that you don't overwhelm yourself and you feel the sense of accomplishment even if you haven't actually finished the whole project yet. This is the easy way of making the bigger task to look smaller and it definately helps you to eventually finish the organization operation. Set a time and date for your actions If the task is a big one, I might just use a timer, set a certain time block and do as much organization I can within that time. By this way you have a fixed time for your organization and don't have to spend hours working on your project (unless you want to). Also, you could have a certain date already in your mind when you want to do the organization. In my case I want to do bigger tasks during the weekend, so I don't have to spend my limited time on weekdays. Do it as soon as you can As soon as you have set the date for your project, start working on it as soon as you can when that day comes. For example, if I know that I have a big task coming and I have decided to do it during the weekend, I want to get started with it during the morning hours or any other time, which is the first one available in my calendar. By this way you might even get the task done during that day. Also, once you have worked on your project the first thing, you can continue to other tasks that day.
