A healthy amount of anxiety is needed by everyone to cope with everyday problems or difficulties. Our anxiety before exams for example can motivate us to study hard so that we are prepared. Our anxiety can protect us from harm, for instance, if we are in a jungle, then being anxious can keep us from impulsive movements or trekking into the dark or into danger carelessly. Anxiety can help us care—care for our own and others' protection and security.

However, anxiety disorders are also common. An anxiety disorder well puts one's health in disorder. The emotion of anxiety becomes an enemy. It is not only a biological and physiological ailment; it can disrupt a person's life in his or her community. Anxiety disorders are characterized by the presence of anxious feelings or thoughts that can disrupt your body or daily activities of living. This anxiety can be present always, or they can come and go—but there is a characteristic of disruption. Anxiety, instead as an ally, has become the major drive for disrupting your life.

Of course, there is no mental switch or will power activation that can cure any anxiety disorder. A combination of therapy and medication is necessary in order to control anxiety disorders. This can be very stressful and challenging to the sufferer. However, the start for curing these disorders begins with the willingness to submit oneself to proper treatment. For certain anxiety disorders, a good therapist and well-managed therapy sessions may be enough to treat the disorder. Therapy is indeed a valuable solution because anxiety does not just come out of nowhere.

Now, it is true that people can be genetically predisposed to anxiety. It is also true that certain traumatic situations can induce greater anxiety. But that does not mean we give up. We can still aim to control the disorder even knowing that indeed, some people are more psychologically equipped than us to handle the problems. There is no room for discouragement here; we all have flaws. If you find it so hard, perseverance is the key to success of your therapy programs.

There are many kinds of anxiety disorders: generalized anxiety disorders, panic disorder, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder and post traumatic stress disorder, to name a few. These disorders of course have their own special kinds of treatment. If you have any of this disorder, consult your physician immediately. And remember; be willing to undergo treatment as necessary so that you can have full recovery of your life.
