Herbs are well-known as natural treatments for many types of ailments. But, can they be part of the cure for panic attacks? They sure can – depending on the severity of your attacks and the intensity of your anxiety. You probably know that there are many different medications that are often prescribed for these attacks. But, do you really need another medication to take? Do you really want to deal with the elevated risks and side effects associated with medications? And, would you rather save prescription medications as a last resort? Herbs have become extremely popular in the last 25 to 30 years, and several of them have been proven quite successful in the treatment of anxiety and panic attacks. Included in these herbs are St. John’s Wort, Kava Kava, passion flower, chamomile and lemon balm. Herbs are usually pretty safe, but one thing to be aware of is the fact that herbs can cause reactions with certain medications. So, before you start on any supplemental herb program, you should be sure to talk with your physician. This is especially true for pregnant women. In addition to your physician, you may also want to consult with a licensed herbalist who may be able to custom design an herbal program for you. Also, don’t be afraid to learn more about herbs. You’ll be better able to discuss them with your doctor. So, if you would like to take a natural route in the treatment of your panic attacks instead of the prescription medication route, herbs will be well worth looking into.
