High blood pressure, if not for medically attended, may cause serious health problems like stroke, heart attack or heart failure as the case maybe. The worst that it can do is death. But high blood pressure can be controlled by engaging into physical exercises. With physical exercise a person can live a healthy life; thereby giving you a normal blood pressure. Normally, regular exercise aside from keeping us healthy and strong, improves our mood, fights chronic diseases, manages our weight, strengthens our heart and lungs and promotes better sleep. Indeed, exercise brings in good benefits to our body and health.
There are many exercises that a person can do for the maintenance of good health. You can do ballroom dancing, hiking, mountain climbing, aerobics, jogging, cycling, swimming and participation in sports activities like ball games, athletic games and the like.
Through ballroom dancing, stress is reduced, energy is increased, strength is improved and muscle tone and coordination flourish. This is a very unique exercise since it does not only give us social activity but lowers our risk for coronary heart diseases, lowers high blood pressure, helps manage and strengthens our bones and hips.
Aerobics exercises improve our body's metabolism as well as the use of oxygen in our cardiovascular system. This is really good for high blood pressure along with other physical exercises or activities. But for those who are hypertensive, a doctor's check- up is highly recommended before engaging in such activity.
However, if you are not used to doing physical activities or exercises, the best way to start is walking for at least thirty minutes in a day. In this way, there can still be improvements in your health to the extent that it can normalize your blood pressure. If already used to it, then you can shift to jogging or other activities. Persistence and patience are required in all these activities in order to see the desired results.
Swimming is a good exercise because it can help in the smooth flow of blood to the heart as well as to the brain. Same is true with other sports activities. Sports enthusiasts have healthy bodies and minds.
Regular exercise is still important even though not hypertensive. Our body needs bodily exercise to keep us strong, healthy, energetic, alive and alert. Just a moderate one is needed provided it is done regularly.
Yoga, breathing exercises and meditation are good for hypertension. These do not only give physical benefits to us but also mental benefits. As far as the physical benefits are concerned, body stretching can bring more range to our muscles and joints; thus, making it more flexible. These can also increase our strength as well as muscle tone and can help clear the nasal passages and calm the central nervous system.
For the mental benefits, these exercises can give us mental calmness, reduce stress and increase body awareness. With the concentration given in the performance of these activities, calmness is brought to the mind. The emphasis of these activities can also relieve stress. And doing these activities constantly can improve our posture and greater confidence. All of these activities are big factors to our physical and mental health.
