Built in 1873 and situated in the tranquil village of Cefn Mawr, northeast Wales, Ebenezer Chapel has a long, rich heritage. It recently underwent major refurbishment, carried out by the Dee Valley Community Partnership (DVCP) and supported by Wrexham County Borough Council (WCBC). The project was part of a £3.5m regeneration initiative, funded through Heritage Lottery grants, and physical regeneration funds from the Welsh Assembly Government. The chapel is now a community centre with services, facilities, offices and a café bar. movemanSKG won the contract to install a platform lift on the premises. Catering for a diverse range of applications, movemanSKG has supplied platform lifts for over twenty years. This valuable experience is hard to come by, so the DVCP and WCBC consulted the platform lift specialist for a solution. It opted for the Prestige from movemanSKG’s extensive range. A handsome, versatile model, the Prestige is popular with hotels, pubs and other public venues. The advice and service from movemanSKG was professional, and the installation speedy and hassle-free.” Ebenezer Chapel’s new Prestige lift is attractive and blends with its surroundings. It utilises the available space and does not obscure the chapel’s historic building features, such as the stained glass windows. The lift means the chapel is accessible to all and complies with the Disability Discrimination Act. Prestige features ergonomic controls for simple operation, and a generous platform size. It lifts up to nine metres and has a load capacity of 400kg. Controlled acceleration and deceleration at both landings means no uncomfortable jolting. As with all movemanSKG lifts, it is LANTAC (Local Authority National Type Approval Confederation) approved, which means it has undergone rigorous safety checks and complies with building regulations. Prestige has a range of colours and finishes, making it ideal for public venues like Ebenezer Chapel.
