When people use wheelchairs it will come to the expense of losing individual freedom and being in a wheelchair the quality of life will suffer and their sense of any independence will also disappear. However with new technology and developments people in wheelchairs can gain some dignity back.

With such development as the shower wheelchair that will enable the handicapped person the privacy in their bathroom without the caregiver needing to standby. When you look at the benefits of portable shower wheelchairs then you will start to see privacy, independence and self dignity coming back.

Many people have installed showers that allow the easy access of rolling in a wheelchair while showering which will give the user the privacy and convenience. Many of the available shower wheelchairs can be used for multiply task and this will eliminate the need for several wheelchairs throughout the house. Wheelchairs with portable potties can usually be used as shower wheelchairs with good results.

Depending of your physical strength most showers can be accessed by wheelchairs , but not can be said of wheelchairs that can be used in showers. Any wheelchair with padding for comfort will be damaged and wet if taken under the shower. Therefore you will have to look for a specialist shower wheelchair to do the job.

Very few people who are in wheelchairs will want caregivers to do the basic daily chores for them and its more important if its personal hygiene. By having a portable shower wheelchair standby you will allow them the freedom and independence to car out there own chores in the bathroom.

Having to put yourself around all day and night can be very tiring and stressful, this can even be said for shower wheelchairs, but by using a portable power wheelchair you wil be able to remove this stress form your daily life.

Remember that power wheelchairs are electric powered from the power unit and once wet will be damaged therefore you can not use them in the bathroom or shower. For this reason you will have to get yourself a different shower wheelchair from your daily wheelchair.

Remember that portable power wheelchairs are unable to be used in showers, as once wet their power unit will not function again. Therefore having a separate shower wheelchair will be a must for them to use in their bathroom and the power wheelchair for other uses.
