Finding a Nanny is usually a two-way street.  You can look for them or they can look for you.  While you're searching for your preferred Nanny, you may also want to post a classified advertisement in websites like .  You can attract good Nannies this way since they usually browse for openings as well.  Here are some things to consider when posting an opening for a Nanny position:

  • Provide as much information as possible

Nannies would usually prefer that you give them as much information as possible.  While it is a good idea not to give out too much information, it would never hurt if you give them the basics.  At , you can easily create a profile wherein you can put a description of who you are and what you need.  It would be great if you can describe your family, especially your children.  These descriptions usually attract Nannies that are fit for you because before they apply, they would consider if they can work for your kind of family.  You can also upload a wonderful picture of your family that is usually reserved for Christmas cards.  A picture is worth a thousand words.  A great profile should make the good nannies excited about working for you.

  • Give salary and benefit expectations

Nannies, like other professions, expect an honest day's pay for an honest day's work.  Here at NannyToYou.com, we believe in fair trade.  Be sure to offer a salary and a benefit package suited for her qualifications and your needs.  It's a rule of thumb that the more experienced Nannies expect a higher salary and for good reason.  On the other hand, a Nanny that is just starting doesn't usually require a high salary.  They are usually just thankful for the experience that they're going to get.  If you can't offer a high salary, you can compensate by giving better benefits.  These are usually in the form of paid vacations, medical benefits, reimbursements and taxes.  While it is better to discuss these during the interview, you can give some basic information on what you're willing to offer.

  • A Nanny of all trades?

Some Nannies will be more than happy to do other chores for additional pay.  While taking care of your children is a full-time job, there is always a lull in the job like when the children are sleeping or in school.  If your Nanny is a live in Nanny, she'd probably be thankful for the opportunity to earn more.  It also makes better sense for your family to look for Nannies who can do additional jobs instead of getting another one.  If your family has a need for it, feel free to indicate that in your profile or classified.

These tips can save you a lot of time interviewing Nannies.  You can be assured that the interview will go smoother since you know what you both want.  These will help filter Nannies who's looking for a specific profile of a family.  If you are the one that they are looking for, they will come to you and this will bring you closer to finding the Nanny for your family.
