Does the smell of tomato sauce send you running for the nearest toilet? Does the mere sight of cheese have you heaving? Are you looking greener than that broccoli you're supposed to be eating? The joys of your first trimester of pregnancy! If you're similar to about 3 out 4 pregnant women, pregnancy nausea will change the way you look at food, not to mention smell and taste.

One merciful aspect of pregnancy nausea is that it typically ends in the first trimester of pregnancy. There is no single tried and true method that will relieve everyone's case of pregnancy nausea, but one or another of the following 5 dietary suggestions have seen much success with many pregnant women. The only way to find what works best for you is by trial and error. So, give these a try.

Eat Often and Throughout the Day

It doesn't even have to be considered a meal. If you can only hold down a handful of almonds, or a couple of crackers. A hard boiled egg, or a small cup of fat free yogurt. Eating every two hours will keep your blood sugar level which is a proven defense against pregnancy nausea. Also, when there's no food around to break down, digestive acids are left with only stomach lining to feed on. A process that produces nausea.

Think Protein

Eat protein snacks. Studies have shown that pregnant women experience less nausea when eating high-protein snacks.

Avoid Fatty Foods

Stay clear of greasy, fried, and other high fat foods, which are hard to digest and are loaded with oils that can send the nervous system into overdrive, aggravating your pregnancy nausea.

Take Your Vitamins

Research has now confirmed that taking vitamin B6 in moderate dosages, 50-100mgs. per day, successfully relieves pregnancy nausea for many women. Don't ignore the positive results with ginger as well. This spicy root has proved effective for alleviating motion sickness, and many women have found it useful for combating pregnancy nausea.

Eat A Few Crackers Before Getting Out of Bed

Here's a remedy that's been widely known to help with pregnancy nausea. Keep a bowl of crackers next to your bed stand, and eat a couple first thing in the morning even before you swing your legs over the side of the bed. Let that snack settle in before you start your day.
