Nutrition and exercise are certainly necessary part of losing weight but what's far more important is the right mindset. Without the correct attitude, simple lowering of your calorie intake will not be enough to achieve and maintain the weight levels you're aiming for. The first step in forming the mindset appropriate for the new lifestyle that you're trying to start living is to stop trusting in short term diet programs. You're about to adopt new way of what you look like in your own eyes as well as in other people's eyes. When starting a long term weight loss process what you're doing in fact is you adopting new habits.

Habits are hard to form and hard to break. You should turn this into your advantage. It may be hard to start with the right way of thinking and to start behaving differently, but once you start living a different life it will become easy and normal. After a while you will have a new habit leading your life and you will find it unimaginable to go back and to break that new habit you've created in your life. When thinking about starting with diets one always says  "I'm going on a diet". This way of thinking is wrong from the start, it implies that the diet is just some temporary program that will end in some near future leaving you with few kilos less. If you're thinking like that, then that's exactly what you're gonna get: a temporary loss of weight which will not last for long. Do you really want to live a different life, a life with you having the appropriate weight? If yes then abandon all ideas about going on a diet! Instead, start thinking about you forming a new habit, a habit that will make it impossible for the excessive kilos to revolve around you.

What does it mean to to form a new habit we're talking about here? It means that you really need an honest talk with yourself. Admit that the things you do day after day get you where you are at with the weight problems. Be aware that you really don't want excessive kilos with you! Think about it, there's only one life you've got. Do you really want to be fat? If not, then take the necessary actions to make your body and life look differently. Start forming new habits! Stop eating too much, go to the gym. Be aware that's exactly what will get you where you want to be. Be aware that's exactly what will benefit you and what will get you a body you'd like to see yourself in.

It may be hard to begin with living by new rules but remember the words of Orison Swett Marden who said: "The beginning of a habit is like an invisible thread, but every time we repeat the act we strengthen the strand, add to it another filament, until it becomes a great cable and binds us irrevocably." There's no way around, adopt new habits or live the life that you're currently living. Don't get this wrong, not every person is the same and for some people looking the way they look may be completely appropriate for the kind of personality they have but if you're not happy with the killos you have then you need to start with forming new habits!
