Baldness is a major problem. Everyone wants to look their best. This is hard when you don't have the hair you want on your head. The easiest way to avoid this problem is through preventing balding. This is easier than you think. By understand the normal growth process for your hair, the risk factors you have, and knowing what to look for, you can help keep that full head of hair.

Preventing baldness begins with understand the normal hair growth process. Your hair goes through periods of rest and growth. The growth period can last for anywhere from two to six years. At the end of this phase, it enters the rest phase. It rests and does not grow for three to four months. After it as finished this phase it is then shed naturally. Once it is shed, a new hair grows in its place and the process begins again. About ninety percent of your hair is growing at any given time. That means that approximately ten percent of your hair is resting at any time. It is also normal for you to shed anywhere from fifty to one hundred hairs per day.

When there is an interruption in the normal hair growth process, balding begins to occur. This can happen for many different reasons. It can be genetic, such as with androgenic alopecia, which is male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness. Major illness and surgery can make you lose your hair. It can be caused by stress, trauma and even depression. It can happen for medical reasons such as autoimmune disorders. Medications, such as chemo drugs and certain other drugs can make your hair fall out. Even hormonal imbalances, such as with menopause, can make you lose your hair. Knowing what you are at risk for is the first step to preventing balding.

Once you know what you are at risk for you can keep an eye on your hairline. Watch for signs that your hair is disappearing. One of the signs is that your hairline is receding. If you are a woman you may notice that your hair is looking thinner and thinner and you aren't using any products in it. You may even notice that you seem to be shedding more than you used to. At the first sign of hair loss you should make sure to see your doctor.

Seeing your doctor at the first sign of hair loss is essential to making sure you have as little hair loss as possible. Hair loss treatments work best when they are started when the balding is in the early stages. If you wait until the problem has become severe, the only way you may have to get your hair back to its former glory may be to go under the knife with different procedures. Preventing balding in all cases is not possible. You cannot control getting autoimmune disorders. You can however, control your actions over these problems. You can watch for the hair loss to start and make sure to get help immediately.
