Want to know a sure-fire way to keep yourself down and stay stuck in a rut for years? Procrastinate on everything and that's sure to be exactly what will happen. It's a problem that almost everyone has to varying degrees, but very few people deal with properly.

The biggest problem with procrastination is that you blame other people or events for it. You're procrastinating because your boss gave you a hard time and you need a break, or because you aren't feeling well. You're doing it because you're mad at your spouse and you really hate paying bills anyway. If you think about it in the long run, sure, it doesn't make sense to put anything off. The sooner things are done, the sooner you don't have to do them any more, but that never quite helps, does it?

Before you fix your procrastination problem, you need to realize that it's not these outside influences that cause it, it's you coming up with excuses to put things off. If you paid the bills, they would get off your back. If you did more work, your boss would ease off of you.

The really crappy thing about it is that, the more you procrastinate, the more you get used to it. It becomes a habit that you can't break out of, and the more you let it happen, the harder it becomes to fix. What you need to do is solve the problem right here and now, so you can put it behind you and move on with your life.
