There are many different hair loss treatments available to the public these days. They range from pills, shampoos, creams, sprays, laser treatments and even surgical procedures. However there is one product that has shown a great deal of promise. Propecia hair loss pills have worked in many different cases. Propecia, or the generic finasteride, was originally created as a drug to treat BPH or enlarged prostate. The drug is made to inhibit the DHT from entering the blood stream, which can enlarge the prostate. However, this is also what causes androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness. The drug was originally called Proscar and was approved by the FDA in 1992. Five years later, in 1997, the drug got FDA approval to use as a hair loss treatment. It not only will help you regain hair but can also help keep you from losing your hair. The only downside is that women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not touch the drug as it can be absorbed through the skin and cause birth defects. There are also many conditions men should take into consideration before beginning Propecia including liver disease, prostate cancer and certain other conditions. Since this is a prescribed medication, your doctor can go over all of this with you and have any tests run that may be needed before beginning the medication. Even though Propecia is a good pill at inhibiting the DHT, there are other hair loss treatments that will give you the same feature. Avodart does the same thing and actually inhibits both types of DHT in the blood. There are also products that can be applied directly to the scalp such as Minoxodil, which is the generic term for Rogaine, Revivogen, Tricomin and S5 cream. All of these can produce similar results as Propecia. The only downside to all these products is that once you stop taking these hair loss products, your hair will go back to the way it was because there is nothing blocking the DHT in your body. Even laser therapy has been shown to help with male pattern baldness in the early stage. Propecia hair loss treatments are only on in the vast industry of hair loss products. Propecia is not even right for treating al types of hair loss. It is designed to treat male pattern baldness. While this is the most common form of hair loss, it is only one of many different causes. Other causes can range from illness, diseases and disorders, stress, poor diet and medications. Your doctor can help you figure out what the cause of your hair loss is and if Propecia is the right treatment option for you. If not, they can help you figure out the best course of action to take. Remember that hair loss does not have to be a losing battle. Science is finding new ways all the time to help men and women win the battle against hair loss for good. So keep your head up and be patient because any hair loss treatment takes time.
