Sure, we all see the various organizations, groups and individuals out there who are vying for a chance to find the cure for cancer, but at the end of the day, what are you doing to try to find a cure?

It is a sad fact that cancer seems to be growing to a point where it is not uncommon to know or be someone who has been diagnosed with this disease. And while there is much speculation as to the exact cause for cancer, there is no definitive answer as to what the true cause is, making it even more difficult to find a cure.

You will remember that a few years ago, Lance Armstrong made headlines when he came up with the idea for a yellow silicone bracelet representing cancer under the guise of ‘LIVESTRONG'. Armstrong was (and continues to be) an advocate for cancer as well as a survivor. This small token or gesture of purchasing a silicone bracelet for a couple of bucks has now gone a long way towards helping to raise awareness about cancer, cancer research and the fight for a cure.

Over time, other similar trends have taken place alongside the yellow LIVESTRONG bracelet. In fact, there are now bracelets, jewelry and other opportunities to help raise awareness, and all of these opportunities are cost effective and efficient for those who are operating on a budget or who want to get involved but don't have a ton of money in which to do it.

More popular with regards to raising awareness for cancer involves fundraising events such as bake sales, road races, sporting events and other types of activities in which money is raised to donate towards cancer research. Churches can even play a major role in helping families out. For example, it is not uncommon to come across a church congregation who has come up with a certain amount of funds to help pay some of the medical bills, grocery expenses or other miscellaneous cost of living expenses for a family that is in need of assistance.

The most common mistake that is made is assuming that you cannot be of any assistance because you simply cannot afford to do so. Keep in mind that fighting for a cure for cancer stems from raising awareness. Even if you don't have the funds, you can still find the time to volunteer your services to help others. Thinking of creative ways to do this can and will make a significant impact on the lives of those who are suffering from cancer.
