Reducing Stress Through Posi-talk Affirmations

Posi-talk affirmations are short statements that are, of course, positive and uplifting in nature. They are designed to help you think more positive thoughts and overcome challenges of all kinds. Posi-talk affirmations, due to their very nature, are quite helpful in assisting individuals to deal with stressful situations. It is no secret that life can get stressful at times for everyone. Stimulus bombards us from every direction. However, affirmations can do wonders in keeping our thinking optimistic, calm, and full of positive energy.

One of the best ways to use posi-talk affirmations is to tackle stress. Stressful situations, after all, are often key in setting off a negative mindset. Give yourself reminders throughout the day. Some suggestions for posi-talk affirmations use intention to release stress including, "I can let go," or "I can do anything I set my mind to" and "I can overcome all obstacles." These types of posi-talk affirmations effectively change how we react to stress.

You have likely already used a great posi-talk affirmation in addressing stress and you might not even realize it. If you have ever found yourself in a stressful situation and repeated to yourself, "I will stay calm," you have already used a posi-talk affirmation of intention. However, when you are actively repeating affirmations in your daily routine, you can begin to train your mind to react in a calmer manner to any potential stressors that come your way. For example, you will find that instead of cursing at other drivers or worrying about traffic on the road, your journeys will be peaceful. You may find that behaviors in other people that might have previously triggered you to become irritated, now no longer affect you.

Another valuable way to use posi-talk affirmations is to remind yourself of the temporary nature of situations. Many situations are fluid and will soon pass you by. Your objective is to keep your stress levels low. One way to use positive affirmations to release stress is to simply state, "This is a temporary situation, I can handle it, and it will pass." Or you can use some other statement with a similar impact and meaning. The simple act of realizing that a situation is temporary can go a long way in reducing one’s overall stress levels.

It is difficult to state how important avoiding stress is for our overall health. People may hear or see statements along the lines of "stress kills" and not really take it seriously or make much of it. But the medical facts are that stress most certainly kills, and it is not just in the form of heart attacks. Stress causes the production of a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol, quite literally, causes aging. That’s right, stress ages you and wears down your body. Thus it makes a word of sense to tackle stress head on. One way of handling stress is through using posi-talk affirmation as tools.

Insert your name and affirm out loud:

I ____ am a calm and competent person.

You _____ are a calm and competent person.

____ is a calm and competent person.
