Okay, I am one of those individuals that loves,LOVE! I get so excited about the idea of love, romance and relationships. The key word here is the“idea”of it. Those of us that are involved in long-term, serious relationships know that it takes work to keep that idea, the love, romance and excitement going. It takes honesty, communication, realistic expectations, along with commitment and sacrifice. Sometimes it takes an outside-unbiased voice to take our good relationship to a great one. Other times, it simply takes us wanting the best for our significant others and wanting the best for ourselves.

If you want to go from good to great, it’s time for a relationship check-up!What normally happens during your annual check-up with your Dr.? You are asked how everything has been since your last visit. You discuss whether there is pain and where it is or what's bothering you. And the Dr. follows with solutions and remedies on what will make you better and what you can do to maintain your good health. Well, the same type of check-up is needed for your relationship. So often our relationships struggle and we're ready to run in the opposite direction. But, what if there was a way that you were able to stay on top of the health of your relationship? If you knew that giving your relationship it's annual check-up meant that your thoughts would be heard, your spouse's feelings would be respected and so much more, would you schedule one today?Keeping a relationship healthy is hard work, but here are some things you want to examine during your relationship check-up:






  • Take an inventory of what's working and what's not.





  • Pay attention to your partner.





  • Recognize what puts a smile on their face.





  • What disappoints your partner?





  • What angers or frustrates your spouse?





  • What brings joy and pleasure to your girlfriend/boyfriend?





  • When do they feel the most supported?





  • What are you contributing to the good health of  your relationship?





  • What is your spouse contributing to the good health of your relationship?







After you both answer and discuss the questions above, it's time to design a plan. Decide on the solutions and remedies that will make your relationship better. Then, set goals and action steps to help you both maintain your relationship's good health.

It's a time out for just talking about wanting a better relationship, today is the day to work at actually having one.
