Looking for ringing ears treatment? Can't sleep because of a weird buzzing, echoing sound? You are not alone. There are more than 30 million Americans experiencing abnormal noises in their ears. This condition is called Tinnitus.
Tinnitus is a hearing disorder caused by other medical problems of the patient (hearing loss, hypertension, hyperactivity etc.). The primary symptom is hearing a ringing or a buzzing sound in the ears, or one ear, even if there are no external sound sources.
Besides drugs and surgery, there are safer, easier and cheaper methods for ringing ears treatment. Most of them are still under tests for effectiveness; but still, they are all worthy of trying.
Healthy Lifestyle
Experts say that Tinnitus is associated with poor cardiovascular health. Hypertension increases its risks because the ears are highly sensitive to blood flow. Therefore, one must maintain an active lifestyle and a healthy diet.
Avoid salty foods. Also, avoid intake of caffeine, nicotine, cola and other stimulants. Maintaining a stable cardiovascular and nervous activity will decrease the risks of ringing ears.
Masking the Noise
The abnormal sound will not be annoying if the person is not conscious of it. This is accomplished by placing other sound sources near the patient. Examples are clocks, radio, electric fan and air conditioner.
Note that the use of sound-masking is not a ringing ears treatment. It is just a home solution especially for those with sleeping disorders.
However, the principle of sound masking is used in White Noise Therapy-a promising method in ringing ears treatment. These are sessions of exposing the patient to a modulated "noise" machine. Afterwards, the patient experiences reduction (or less consciousness) of the ringing.
Meditation, Energy and Emotional Training
Remember that almost everyone experiences abnormal noise. Most, however, are not affected because they are less conscious of it. If your case is not influenced by other medical problems, mind conditioning may help.
Yoga, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and other forms of meditation increases tolerance against the annoying sounds. In other words, mental training will help decrease the consciousness of the ringing.
Even scientists are surprised with the results of acupuncture on ringing ears treatment. The ancient Chinese technique has already released thousands from the burden. Just look for a reliable and experienced acupuncture practitioner.
There are cases when alternative and self-help methods are not advisable. If there are symptoms of ear infection, do not self medicate. Consult your doctor immediately. Also, seek medical help if there are signs of hearing loss.
