One very important thing that you need to keep in mind about your marriage is that it is never too late to save it from divorce. Although divorce is all too common in the world today, it is one of the worst things that can happen to you in the world. Sadly, statistics show that over half of the couples married today will experience it ending in divorce. Divorce is one of the most stressful events that can occur in your life, it ranks as high as the death of a loved one, and can trigger the grieving process the same as a death.

The unfortunate truth is that most of the divorces that occur these days could have been prevented from happening at all. You need to step up and prevent yourself from becoming a statistic, stop your divorce before it happens. Stopping a divorce is not an easy process, but it is completely possible. To stop your divorce, you need to follow some guidelines to identifying and fixing the root problem.

There is a formula for stopping your divorce, just as you use a recipe in the kitchen; you use the formula to save your marriage. Fortunately, there is help available to learn how to stop your divorce; all you need to do is put the information to use. Take action now, don't wait until it is too late and you become another statistic.

The First Step: Identify the Problem

You are going to have to work together with your spouse to determine what the root of your problems is. Just like you can't fix a car if you don't know what's broken, you can't fix a marriage if you don't know what's wrong. Although it may sound much simpler than it is, what you determine to be the problem may really turn out to be just a symptom of the problem. Work together with your spouse and you will be able to determine what the problem is.

The Second Step: Resolve the Problem

By far, the most important step in preventing a divorce is resolving your marriage problems. Simply put, if you can't fix the problem with your marriage, you can't stop the divorce. In some instances, after you determine what the problem is, you also find that it cannot be fixed, but in most cases problems usually can be fixed. One of the biggest reasons that marriages do end in divorce is that the problems are never identified. However; since you used step one to identify the problem, now you can work with your spouse to reach satisfactory compromises for the problems in the marriage.

The Third Step: Reflect on the Good Times

While you work to fix the marriage problems, you need to reflect on the good times from the past. Even though things have gotten bad in the marriage now, there was a time in the beginning of your marriage when you had good times together. If you try to bring back the good times but find it difficult, make the effort to reflect on the good times that you did have, and keep them in mind. In the best case, try to bring back the good times, if you can't bring them back, make new ones.

The Fourth Step: A Fresh start

After you have identified the problem, resolved the problem and brought back the good times in your marriage, you need to start the marriage off fresh. The thing to do is to view the marriage as being brand new again. Keeping all of the good times in mind, you need to forget the bad ones and make an effort to learn about your spouse all over again. Let's face it, things have changed since you were first married, and you need to make your marriage work with the person you are married to now, not the person you used to be married to. Accept your spouse for who they are now, not for who you wish they were, and work together with them to build a better, stronger marriage.

By following these four steps, you should have no trouble stopping your divorce. However; if you still need more help, you should not be ashamed to look for it. There is information available to help you resolve the problems that you have in your marriage, you only need to be willing to use it.
