Seroclearance of Hep B virus markers is a rare event ( 0.1-0.5%).In normal course Hep B virus is associated with increased possibility of developing Hepatocellular carcinoma even as a delayed response to the reaction of body against the viruses.HBsAg ( Hep B virus surface antigen is considered as an easily detectable and dependable marker which can give rise the status of the disease as well as the grades of improvements in therapeutic interventions. Ayurveda has promised for better care of hepatobilliary diseases owing to some speciality medicine which are supposed to act as antiviral, hepatoprotective and cholegauge actions. Despite of a great trust of common pepole upon ayurveda for its possible capecity to deal with hepatobilliary diseases, this is not yet scientifically explored. We tried tailored ayurvedic therapy in a 30 year female diagnosed as a Hep B carrier with HBsAg level as 1.930 by microwell sandwitch elisa method ( 22.01.2008). She started recieving Ayurvedic therapy from 20.7.08. a repeat test for quantitative estimation of HBsAg done on 16.09.08 reveled a 20% reduction in its level ( 1.540). This serological improovement is also substantiated with physical features like improoved appetite and improoved body weight since the ayurvedic therapy is started .She is still under the treatment as we presume for a complete seroclearance if the tretment is continued for some more time.
