One of the few integral features of beautiful skin is that it is blemish free. However, as important it is to have a spotless healthy skin to look your finest, there are numerous kinds of scars prevalent that threaten to diminish the possibility. Most common and not-so-common scars are difficult to get rid of. These include skin blemishes like acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines, stretch marks, keloid and hypertrophic scars. You can hope to heal a scar completely by various scar reduction treatments. While the most obvious choices may seem cosmetic surgery or collagen injections – to your surprise – there are even more economical yet effective remedies to mend scar tissue that need attention.

Thanks to significant improvements and enhancements in scar reduction treatments, nowadays, the market has plenty of silicone based scar creams and gels. These scar treatment products also constitute other proven ingredients to nourish and moisturise skin, like Aloe Vera, cucumber butter, cocoa butter, onion extract and Vitamin E. The presence of silicone in these creams/ gels, however, is the prominent factor scientifically acknowledged to achieve gradual reduction in scar tissue count and eventual fading of any blemishes/ scars to almost nil.

What makes a scar reduction cream effective is also its property to penetrate into the subcutaneous skin layers. The cream or gel tends to seep deep into the skin and thus treat the scars from inside out. These creams promise to treat all nature of scars, be them caused by acne, surgery, injury, pregnancy, laser resurfacing, and burning or fungal infection. In fact, contemporary surgeon fraternity prescribes one of these creams to its patients along with silicone sheeting to treat difficult scar tissue.

Silicone sheeting in combination with scar treatment creams/ gels work faster and better at removing scars that otherwise contend to stay on forever. The usefulness of the creams comes forth more when surgeons face treatment of certain body parts where silicone sheeting cannot be used. For instance, body joints and facial features of the patient are such parts of human anatomy that can only be treated using creams or gels to form an occlusive covering over the scars like silicone sheeting, but in a flexible manner.
