There are several simple mistakes that we make which contribute to poor digestion. A healthy digestive system plays a key role in a healthy lifestyle. Almost all of our bodily functions take advantage of the nutrients that the digestive system provides. Therefore, if our digestive system is not properly functioning, then a wide array of other bodily functions may be negatively affected. So here are a few simple mistakes that we make which contribute to poor digestion. Eating food too quickly is one of the first mistakes that we make. It is important to chew food thoroughly, this way your digestive system does not have to work twice as hard in order to break down the food. Another common mistake is drinking fluids with your meals. When you drink a lot of fluids you are basically diluting the acid that breaks down the food. A third common mistake is eating while under stress. Often times, when we are stressed we find comfort in foods that we would normally not eat, such as candy bars and other junk food. Therefore, it is best to snack on something else when stressed. Try some veggie sticks as a healthier alternative. Another mistake we make is eating late in the evening. As the day turns into evening hours, our bodily processes slow down, this includes our digestive tract. Therefore, it is important not to eat any foods after seven pm. And the last mistake that we make which contributes to poor digestion is not getting enough digestive enzymes in our diet. There are several natural supplements out there which contain digestive enzymes which aid in breaking down fats, protein, carbohydrates, and sugars. By simply fixing all of these common mistakes you can be a step closer to a healthier digestive system.
