Ain't no stopping us now", was the theme of theLadies of Facebook Networking Brunch, held Sunday, May 23, 2010 in thePiedmont Ballroomof theGeorgian Terrace Hotel, inAtlanta, Georgia. The Piedmont ballroom was a flurry of activity. Smooth Jazz music permeated the air, while vendors passed out business cards promoting their goods or services, authors signed copies of newly published books and brunch attendees table hopped to greet old friends and make new ones. Networking was the name of the game that Sunday afternoon. The mastermind behind this event wasMichelle Lavelle, owner of Pretty Pieces of Atlanta. She knew many dynamic women through her business rolodex and Facebook friends and wanted to create a forum where women could develop and expand their business and social networks and exchange business and career advice in a supportive environment. Ms. Lavelle told the crowd of 150 women, that it was "time for women to build each other up and to leave envy and jealousy at the door." She challenged the crowd to mentor and accept mentoring if necessary, to form business alliances that would extend beyond the brunch and to look for opportunities to give and not receive. This was not the typical ‘ladies who lunch' crowd. These motivated and dynamic women were not only fed physically, but also received information that fed them socially and financially. TheDos and Don'ts of Networkingpresentation provided valuable tips and tricks that could be used when fostering social or business contacts. However, after all of the talk of business completed, the event culminated with a fashion show featuring the couture line ofJaki Brown Designs. Due to the overwhelming success of this inaugural event, requests were made to bring theLadies of Facebook Networking Brunchto other cities. More details to come. Ladies, stay positive and stay connected.
