In reality, the dark night is associated with your body. Your body will only produce melantonin in the darkness. Melantonin is one of hormones in your immunity system that is able to embattle and prevent some diseases that include breast cancer and prostate cancer.

In the other hand, if you sleep without turning off the lamp, it can cause the production of melantonin to stop. That is why, turning off the lamp does not only save your energy, but also increase your health.

The followings are several factors that can cause you to have sleeping disorder:

A. The sudden time change between day and night. It is generally because of trip by plane.

B. Caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Consuming them too much can cause you to get sleeping disorder. This sleeping disorder is often experienced by coffee drinker, chain smoker, and alcoholic.

C. Environmental factor, such as aloud music, noisy factory sound, and sleeping by turning on the lamp.

Meanwhile, the followings are the causal factors of sleeping disorders for women.

A. Psychological stress.

According to a research, statistically, 34% of women often experience psychological stress compared to men (22%). This might be because of the fact that women are more sensitive than men.

B. The disturbance from their roommate.

According to a research, 17% of women complain about getting sleeping disorder because of their roommate. Their roommate usually accustoms to snore. Meanwhile, only 5% of men complain about the same causal factor.

C. They include night workers, nurses, night watch-women, and factory worker.

Indeed, women who work at night often experience sleeping disorder. They also often experience the disturbance of menstruation cycle and get difficulty to be pregnant.

D. Related to menstruation.

Progesterone functions to bring upon calm and sleepiness. Its production will increase in the ovulation time (at least 12-14 days of menstruation cycle). In this time, some women will experience limp and excessive sleepiness.

Sleeping disorder starts when the production of progesterone declines (22-28 of menstruation cycles). In this time, women will often wake up, sleep like a log, or wake up unwell.

E. Related to pregnancy.

In pregnancy, there are several changes that can disturb your sleeping. In pregnancy about 1-3 months, progesterone starts to increase and cause sleepiness. The enlarged uterus starts to push bladder, so pregnant women often wake up several times to urinate.

In pregnancy about 4-6 months, progesterone starts to be stable. Uterus does not push bladder anymore, so pregnant women feel comfortable sleeping times. It is can be concluded that they do not experience sleeping disorder at all.

In pregnancy about 7-9 months, pregnant women experience sleeping disorder again. They feel heat around their breasts, their noses are clogged up, their legs have cramps, and they often urinate. Those problems will disturb the quantity and quality of their sleeping.

97% of pregnant women will often wake up at midnight and get difficulty to sleep again, while 30% of them will snore while sleeping even though previously, they never snore while sleeping.

F. Menopause phase.

In this phase, the production of estrogen starts to decline, so 30%-40% of women often wake up at midnight because of their much sweat, their heart beats, or the heat that they feel around their breasts and heads.
