The most difficult thing in smoking is to quit it. If only people could give up smoking as easily as they get addicted to it, we would not find so many of us getting hooked to the habit. So what is the best way to stop smoking? There is not just one but many ways to do and just a few tips can help you overcome the habit. Quit smoking to change the way you look at life and you will find that you are better off without the cigarette that is fueling your lungs with nicotine with each breath that you take.
Remember, just as there were no reasons to start smoking there won't be reasons to stop except you sincerely feel its negative effects. Impulse, health or other external factors can make a person stop smoking and if you are really trying hard to kick the butt, try these few steps that will make you realize, you made the right decision in saying enough is enough.
Flushing the body of toxins is the best way to curb the impulse of smoking. You can start by drinking a glass of water every time you feel like smoking. The activity that involves getting yourself a glass of water each time you want to stretch for the cigarette alone would take away the craving. Smoking is a diversion and some feel that it reduces stress; the truth here is that smoking does not do anything except giving you a small high by releasing sugar in the blood. You feel that your stress is reduced whenever you smoke, because your mind concentrates on the flaming end and not on anything else, so the momentary distraction makes you feel that you get stress relief.
Next, remove all types of stuff that would remind you of your habit. Trash all cigarette packets, ashtrays, lighters and even those hidden cigarettes in your closet. Yes! Things would be tough when starting out but if all these items are removed from your reach, you will find quitting the cigarette much easier. Inform your family and friends that you plan to quit and tell them a date from when you want to start doing it. Set a time limit for yourself, maybe a month. If you can stop smoking for a month, you can do it for an year or maybe lifetime. Finally, remember that no matter what anyone says, it all depends on you and your will power, if you really make up your mind to stop smoking, you can be able to kick the butt.
