If you are looking for a home remedy to help sagging skin, you will find several of them here. While you might not be able to whip them up in your food processor, they are affordable and do not require a visit to the dermatologist.

The skin's firmness and elasticity is due to collagen and elastin fibers located in the skin's dermis layer. The skin's moisture and hyaluronic acid content play supporting roles.

It takes years for a collagen fiber to form and product of the fibers slows down as we get older. The hyaluronic acid content decreases with age, as well and many people (particularly women) have problems with excessive dryness as they get older.

There are compounds that have been proven to stimulate the production of elastic fibers. Others have been proven to prevent the breakdown of hyaluronic acid. As most people know, there are many effective moisturizers on the market. So, there is something that can be done about all of the factors that contribute lost elastic.

A home remedy to help sagging skin might contain grape seed oil, because of it dual moisturizing activity. It moisturizes and dries to an invisible film that keeps the moisture locked in. As the skin's moisture content increases, it will look plumper, firmer and more youthful.

The compounds proven to prevent the breakdown of hyaluronic acid are found in a kind of edible seaweed called wakame kelp. Wakame can be found in numerous health food stores and even a few grocery stores. It grows wild in the Sea of Japan and other areas.

The compounds proven to stimulate the production of new elastic fibers are a little more difficult to find. A home remedy to help sagging skin might contain avocados. Some studies have shown that avocado extract causes an increase in the amount of collagen within the skin.

But, the most effective extract is a type of protein found in sheep's wool. Patented processes are required to remove the extract and allow it to remain active. So, it's not something that you could whip up in your food processor.

If you combined grape seed oil, wakame kelp and avocado, you could apply it to your face on an occasional basis as a home remedy to help sagging skin . It's just not something you would want to use every day.
