After thinking you are going insane with the endless buzzing, ringing or swishing noises that never subside in your ears your doctor has labeled it a common condition he called "Tinnitus". Common problem you think, after all those crazy nights where you just could not get to sleep as those church bells just kept ringing no matter what you did. Your partner thinks you are crazy as they can not hear anything and just wish you would go to sleep and stop disturbing them.

But you do not have to suffer any more as tinnitus symptoms are curable.

5 Small Steps to Silence - How to Ease Tinnitus Symptoms.

Step 1

Avoid all loud sounds and noisy places.

Now this is quite difficult if you live and work in a noisy city so I suggest maybe a holiday in the country. Maybe take the tent and camp out in a relatively isolated spot away from a lot of the noises.

Step 2

Avoid total silence but try and mask the tinnitus with white noise.

White noise is a type of noise that is produced by combining sounds of all different frequencies together. If you took all of the imaginable tones that a human can hear and combined them together, you would have white noise. Various white noise CDs are available commercially.

Step 3

Avoid over use of alcohol, caffeine, or aspirin.

Unfortunately alcohol and caffeine are modern social drinks which can cause some people embarrassment not to accept but a polite refusal or asking for an alternative is becoming quite acceptable. Next time you feel like an aspirin reach for a glass of water instead as a headache can be a sign that your body is dehydrated.

Step 4

Wear ear protection when using chain saws, guns, lawn mowers, loud music or power tools.Exposure to loud noises can make tinnitus worse and can also cause additional hearing loss.

Most work places now make the wearing of ear protection as a job requirement so why not make it habit to also use ear protection when working at home. Avoid those noisy night clubs where the music is so loud it makes everyone sound like chipmunks.

Step 5

Control stress levels and learn how to relax in stressful situations.

Modern life is stressful, everything needs to be done yesterday it seems so maybe take time out for a short holiday preferable away from all the noise. Listen to some relaxing music or some white music while relaxing in a comfortable chair.

Unless you take some action to control the tinnitus symptoms now you will only become more stressed and tired from lack of sleep which causes depression and negative thoughts resulting in a higher level of anxiety and thus worsens your tinnitus. For more information - / .
