Stress is becoming increasingly a part of our lives, and it can slowly eat away at us if we let it. Fortunately, there is a lot you can do to reduce your stress. Here are a few good stress management tips that can instantly help you. You can use these stress management tips any time you feel that stress is getting the best of you.

Visualize– Close your eyes, take a few deep breathes, and imagine yourself alone somewhere quiet and relaxing like a beach, forest, mountain, desert, or any other place that makes you feel calm and relaxed. Imagine the details of the place as vividly as you can so that all of your senses participate in the experience.

If your imagination takes you to a forest, imagine that you hear the singing of the birds and the sound of the wind. Feel the wind lightly touching your skin. Picture the sights of the trees and the calming green all around you. Imagine the invigorating smell of fresh air.

Imagine that as the wind blows around you, it takes away the stress. Slowly but surely, you become calmer and calmer until your stress is gone. You are feeling refreshed and relaxed.

Do this visualization exercise for a few minutes and open your eyes. You should be feeling much better now.

Stretch– One of the most overlooked stress management tips is stretching. When you are stressed, both your body and mind are tense. When you stretch, you release stress accumulated in your muscles, and that triggers a stress release reaction in your mind as well.

Perform this exercise slowly and really take the time to enjoy it. Stretch your arms and legs simultaneously, and repeat several times if needed.

Smile– Here is a little nugget for you to chew on. Your brain and your body are totally and completely related. When your body is tense, your mind is stressed. When your body feels relaxed, so does your mind.

When you think of something funny or pleasurable, you smile, which is a bodily reaction to your inner state of mind. Few are aware of it, but this also works the other way around. When you smile, your mind takes the cue that something is pleasurable happening and acts accordingly.

Few stress management tips mention this, but it is an extremely powerful way to relax and to induce calmness and joy whenever you want. Simply smile, even if you have no reason to. After doing this often enough, your mind will automatically begin to adjust, and will take your smile as a cue to relax.

Stop– When you have stressful thoughts that just run around your head and do not want to cease, close your eyes, and say "STOP". You can do this internally or actually verbally pronounce the word, but you need to say or imagine it firmly, clearly, and suddenly.

If saying the "stop" command does not help, you need a physical stimulator to accompany the word. You can put a rubber band on your wrist and snap it at the same moment that you "stop", or you can pinch yourself if that is easier.

The key is to make a sudden shift from the troubling thoughts and to interrupt them.

There are many more different stress management tips out there, but these are some of the most accessible and simple to do anywhere and at anytime.
