Summer jobs for teens are very difficult to find these days. With the economy being the way it is for adults, imagine how frustrating it can be for a sixteen or seventeen year old to find a job. If you know a teen that needs a job there are a few things that they can do to increase their chances of getting a job.

· Fill out multiple applications online for your local grocery stores, Walmarts, movie theaters.

· Make sure to follow up after the application is submitted.

· Dress appropriately when you go in person to check on the status of your application.

· Be persistent but polite when meeting with potential managers. Remember first impressions are everything.

· Word of mouth has always been a good way to find a job for teens. Perhaps your mom or dad knows someone that will allow you to work for them for 10-15 hours a week.

If you are an employer and need someone to file for a few hours a day or vacuum your office in the evenings think about hiring a teen. Not only do you have to pay them just minimum wage but they will be on their way in the workforce. That little bit of money that you pay them each week will have a great impact on them and their future. It may be just enough to put gas in their car each week or you may be helping them pay for their college books next semester.

Teens, if given the opportunity do a wonderful job for the most part and with a little direction they can make a fine addition to your company. Normally, because it's their first job, they do everything they can to make you proud and you just may be pleasantly surprised.

One day when you're retired and looking for supplemental income, they may just be hiring you!
