If after looking through the list, you become concerned that your child might have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, then the best thing that you can do is take your child to a qualified professional for a series of tests. Understand that some children are naturally hyperactive because they are curious, impulsive and have lots of excess energy. That said, go ahead and look through the list, but try not to jump to conclusions.

  • Restlessness
  • Difficulty taking a task to its completion
  • Impulsivity
  • Appears not to listen
  • Constantly interrupting or intrusive
  • Aggressive tendencies

Medical professionals look at more than just the symptoms of hyperactivity, they also look at their duration. How frequently and how long has your child been showing these behaviors. If you are concerned and do plan a trip to the doctor, it is a good idea to keep a journal of your child's behaviors. This record, along with the results from other tests will determine whether your child is in need of treatment.

If you are told that your child is hyperactive or if your child is diagnosed with ADHD, it is not the end of the world. There are many different treatments available and you do not have to give your child prescription drugs. If drugs are brought up by the doctor, here's what you need to know. First, drugs do work for some kids, but they make other kids' symptoms worse because of their side effects. Some drugs, for instance, actually worsen the symptoms that they are supposed to treat. Next drugs just suppress the symptoms; they do not get to the cause of hyperactivity.

For this reason, you may consider natural remedies. These herbal formulations contain proven ingredients like tuberculinum, arsen iod and vert alb which calm and soothe the nervous system, reduce outbursts and tantrums and promote the ability to concentrate. These remedies have no side effects or concerns about interactions and do not require a prescription from a doctor. If you do want to follow the natural route, make sure the remedy has been FDA-approved and contains the herbal ingredients listed above because they have been clinically proven to work. This all-natural way of treating the symptoms of hyperactivity has many important advantages over prescription drugs.

No matter what you choose as a treatment option, a healthy diet can help improve your child's symptoms. Avoid giving your child sugary, caffeinated sodas which can worsen hyperactive behavior. Also watch out for all the chemicals and trans fats in processed foods. Do your best to feed your child lean protein (in the form of chicken, turkey and fish), fresh fruit and vegetables in season, nuts, beans and healthy grains. Giving your child nutritious foods will stabilize blood sugar levels and balance moods.

Symptoms of hyperactivity may be normal for some kids are signal a disorder in others. With the information in this articles, you have a better idea of what to look for and the next step for your child. Whatever you do, do your best for your child, making informed and healthy choices each step of the way.
