Most people only believe what their doctor's say and don't question it. You have a cold or headache, family and friends will usually say. "Oh you have to go see the doctor or take a pill." To few wonder on the cause of their various illnesses. Our medical system tends to deal with the symptoms - not the causes.
Any drug you see, any of the "Ask your Doctor" commercials are nothing more than the marketing of masks which will hide and subdue symptoms. Diagnosis is the identification (the naming of) a disease. Hey - naming and then offering some man-made chemical to mask a symptoms is NOT, in my and many's opinion, the way to handle disease.
I prefer to handle my health by holistic and orthomolecular means. (Orthomolecular medicine: uses specific doses of vitamins, amino acids, fatty acids, trace minerals, electrolytes, and other natural substances.)
There are a few life changes you can make that will improve your chances of not having to go to the doctor's office. Anyone can make these changes without much effort. But you have to make those changes and for some it will not be easy. I can tell you what my husband and I did. By making these changes we have improved out health substantially.
For one, and this was a BIG one, we changed what we ate at home. We went to eating mostly organic foods. We just did the standard meats. Both of us, especially Ken, showed signs of edema (swelling). Much of this was a result of the growth hormones we were getting in the meat we ate. (There is so much to know - see other articles on eating meat, vegetarianism, carbs, etc.) We believe that eating meat (good, healthy, lean meat) is the best source of essential proteins. By changing our source of meat (a farm that produces naturally grown beef and other products) it completely changed our situation. Both of leaned out and lost the edema.
When we started to make these changes I researched where to buy our food. There are a few chain store that have great sources for organic vegetables. You will notice though that you can only get current fruits or vegetables when they are in season. You can also get organic meat. Their meat doesn't have any hormones, pesticides or additives. But the meat is not from grass feed animals. Grass feed animals is the best source of meat to have. We also get meat from a farm that does have grass feed animals. If you want the best meat possible, find a local farm that has grass feed cows and chickens.
The second change we made was we bought all organic shampoos, toothpaste, dish soap, laundry soap. Basically anything we put on our bodies we went organic. Skin is the biggest organ. Why put something on it you wouldn't put in your mouth.
The third thing, after much, much research and trying many products we found a group of researchers which have created their own products (based on Nobel Prize winning scientific (and undisputed) research.
We have taken their formulas daily since 2007. We take it in powered form - in water (we drink it - this is the best way to fully absorb the ingredients). They have six products (as of 2010) and we take four of them on a daily bases.
These products are based on the works of Nobel Laureate Dr. Linus Pauling, Nobel Laureate Otto Warburg, Dr. Keith Brewer and others (including Louis Ignarro who found the direct link to high blood pressure and lack of N.O.)
Their common thread was "Orthomolecular" medicine which is the study of health through nutrition at the cellular level.
Orthomolecular protocol could be described as giving back to the body that with which it was born and the body will heal itself.
