Temporomandibular Disease

The term TMJ is used to describe both the temporomandibular joint and its tethered disorder. This disorder leads to the locking of the jaw and joint muscles sometimes. The victims have difficulty in chewing food, speaking and performing any activity so causes them open and close this mouth. The symptoms of the disease are rheumatoid arthritis, jaw injury, jaw misalignment, teeth grinding or bruxism, and stress. The doctor can perform a procedure called arthogrphy to see if it is really temporomandibular joint disorder or not. After the confirmation of the disease the doctor might prescribe mouth guards or recommend a surgery, however suregery is used only in most extreme cases.
