Adolesence : The Re-Conditioning Of The Brain

The level of growth that is experienced in the teen brain is only similar to that which is experienced in the brain of a child. This expansion explosion is like a'full service' with new plugs, oil change and a supercharger. It's a work in progress - and they behave like it!

Millions of brain cells are suddenly 'used or lost' and those that are used continue to grow in what's called the ultane process. The gray part of the brain also starts to expand leading to a bigger level of maturity, it happens earlier for girls and much later for boys.
High Risk Thinking

They may need to do activities that you and I can never understand, so keep an eye open and assist them to better evaluate the risks that they take.

oldsters beware - and be there as a directing force for them

This short sightedness regularly leads to the disgusting practice of lying - usually this is absolutely unnecessary!

In Summary

Here are a few pointers to recollect when dealing with your adolescents ;

K.I.S.S.
So to communicate effectively with them, keep it short and straightforward

Be Loving - not Judgmental

Be an Inspiration to Them and Model the Right Way
I remember the saying goes 'do as I say, don't do as I do', but at this time in their lives, it's vital that your word has integrity. They will learn by seeing, then doing, of course , they don't hear most of what you assert anyway!!

Sometimes Just Let Them Relax

There's a lot of expansion going on at this time, and just like with babies, the body compensates with an increased amount of sleep.
REPETITION is key!

Repeat it as frequently as they need to hear it..

Gray matter is continuously expanding in the brain of your teenager. This will eventually lead to responsible and logical reasoning - so be encouraged parents! You ( and your teenager ) will look back on this time and smile. In the meanwhile, you may frequently want to say to them 'What were you thinking?'

This influences their dating relationships strongly, so learn how to approach thisdeal with subject by getting a FREE great guide on teenage dating relationships at
