Smoking can be a difficult habit to break if you're not dedicated to do so. There are many over-the counter products to help with this problem, but the most popular stop smoking aides only change the way your body receives nicotine. Also, the prescription medicine that's available will make you want to light one up after seeing the total cost at the pharmacy. The good news: there are natural ways to break the habit for good. The bad news: you'll be sweating, going to the bathroom more often, or replacing your cigarettes with chewing gum.

One of the oldest quit smoking natural methods is exercise. Any kind of workouts will do, but cardio and martial arts training are the most popular. The idea of this is to do something that requires both hands or something that can wear you down afterwards. With your mind focused on the workout, you'll forget about smoking altogether and be able to live smoke-free. However, you have to keep fighting off your cravings for a while and may get sucked into working out at the gym everyday instead of taking smoke breaks every couple of hours.

Another quit smoking natural method is drinking water. Both simple and healthy, water helps to hydrate and clean out the waste in your body. The latter is true for nicotine as well, since it's processed the same way as alcohol and other addictive chemicals. The best way to do this is by drink at least 3 8 oz glasses of water a day, or one when you have the urge to smoke. Doing so will work the same way as working out does, only with less work involved and no need to spend money.

Another simple quit smoking natural method is chewing a piece of gum over smoking a cigarette. Many people who gave up smoking have tried this method for decades and it still works. The only negative thing about it is that sugared gum can cause cavities and weight gain if done for a long period of time. However, sugarless gum is acceptable if you wish to try this over the other two. Just chew a piece until your craving goes away and repeat it when they come back. Over time, your body will get the message that you're not smoking anymore and you can finally get on with your life.

If none of the above help you kick the habit, there are plenty of quit smoking natural methods available online that you can try at home. It's also best to attend meetings for support if you're still having a hard time with cravings and relapses. Quitting cigarettes is very hard to do in a short amount of time, so don't give up if it's been six months since you've sparked one up and you still can't shake the urge off. However you decide to quit, you'll find yourself feeling healthier than when you were smoking everyday of the week.
