I was speaking to an individual one day and during the course of the conversation, he asked me a question that had something to do with a decision that I had to make. I told him that the Creator had already made that decision and that I was fine with that. He immediately became defensive and said that he doesn't believe in religion. I tried to explain to him that I wasn't talking about religion, but he kept cutting me off. He did not care to listen. All he heard was some form of "God" and that made him think I was talking about religion.

This conversation caused me to wonder why anyone would think of the Creator as a religious figure. I guess the church has a huge part to play especially when politics is involved. However, the Creator existed before anything was. So religion really has no place and no foundation except to control the minds of the laity.

To understand this, you have to know what the word religion really means. The word "religion" comes from a Latin word calledreligāre. The word "Ligāre"means "to bind, tie, or fasten. The prefix "re-"means "again" or "again and again". This can also mean "back" or "backwards" as in a backward motion. So the root meaning of religion is "to bind, tie or fasten again and again"

This could explain why many of us are programmed to go to a place of worship every week. We are told in many different and subtle ways to leave our brains at the door. So we are taught from little not to think for ourselves when we enter those walls. As a result, believers and unbelievers based everything on belief. They will say "The Creator (or God) exists because I believe he exists" or "The Creator does not exist because I do not believe he exists". If something good happens they believe. If something bad happens there is doubt. I have noticed that majority of the time people become atheists or agnostics if they do not experience some miracle or warm feeling inside. They also take this path if they do get what they ask for or if they do not get certain questions answered. Again it's all about religion, being bound again and again to a system of man made rules, beliefs, and practices.

So how does one come out of this bind? The first thing you must do is ask yourself, what does the Creator  mean to you? For most people whether they believe it or not, The Creator (God) is the pastor, bishop or some other religious or spiritual teacher/leader. It may be their parents. It might also be the church. So when any of these mess up, their world crumbles. But is the Creator any of these people or systems? That is what you should ask yourself.

You must also be observant and do not leave your brain at the door. Take it with you and pay attention to what is being said about the Creator. If your leader says that the Creator is all powerful, all knowing etc, then why the Creator would be bound to a system or a building or one set of beliefs? You mean the Creator has all that power for nothing? I highly doubt it.

Spiritual leaders boast to their followers that the Creator is not bound by anything or anyone and that he is all powerful. They do this all the time. If this is true, then the Creator is not bound by religion. This means that the Creator is not a religious figure. When you understand this, you are on your way to mental, spiritual, and emotional freedom.
