It seems that more area locals are finding that "aging in place" leads not only to longer lives in many cases, but also to a better quality of life. The sick and aging residents of the North Carolina Piedmont are showing a tendency to skip long-term hospital and nursing home stays, opting instead for a lifestyle that's much more conducive to personal freedom and dignity: home care. Durham, NC , as accessible as it is to all of the Duke Medical facilities, is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to geriatrics.

Medical professionals and laymen alike are discovering that senior care, Clayton NC or Clayton CA, when performed in an environment where the patient is comfortable and familiar (the primary example being their home), leads to a better state of well-being in the golden years of their life. This trend isn't just showing up in central North Carolina - it's happening all over the United States.

More than 1.4 million seniors are currently using home care, and that number is expected to double by 2030 as the senior population continues to skyrocket. Senior care is not just an area of health care, it is also a business, and many people view it as such. As with any aspect of the marketplace, demand yields supply, and therefore as the Baby Boom generation continues to age, nonprofit organizations and entrepreneurs alike are jumping on the opportunity to develop senior care services and products. Many of these developments, you can bet, are going to be geared toward "aging in place" as that continues to become the next big thing in caring for sick and aging seniors.

The range of home care services that are available, no matter where you live, is quite extensive and can be custom-tailored to the needs of the patient. Whether they require round-the-clock nursing care or they just need someone to help them run errands and do things around the house (known as non-medical or custodial care), there are very few services you can't find under the growing umbrella of " home care. Clayton NC may not have as many options as, say, Chicago, but the fact that it is proximal to such a medically-driven city as Durham, right there in the NC Research Triangle, you can bet that even Clayton seniors can find exactly what they need in terms of at-home senior care.

In addition to home care, families across the nation can expect to see a rise in the following trends in senior care services over the next few decades: for-profit social workers and other senior advocates; nonprofit peer care, such as Seniors Helping Seniors; luxury care products such as gold-plated canes and leather lift chairs; senior fitness programs; senior transportation; "elder gadgets" like bionic gloves and disposable hearing aids; GPS - enabled electronic alert devices; "granny cams" and other monitoring devices; and finally, senior-driven legal services (also known as "elder law").

As you can see, the senior care paradigm of the future extends far beyond home care, but many of these emerging products and services will support an elderly population who prefers freedom, enhancing their ability to live more independently within their communities.
