Preached by the holy Prophet (pbuh), Islam is spreading vastly around the globe, covering nearly one-quarter of the world itself. The Muslims are a diverse community of believers worshipping only one god, Allah (swt), covering approximately fifty countries, while other groups are clustered in minority communities on nearly every continent.Islam is the Abrahamic religion articulated by the Qur'an, a text considered by its adherents to be the verbatim word of the one, incomparable God, and by the Prophet of Islam Muhammad's demonstrations and real-life examples (called the Sunnah, collected through narration of his companions in collections of Hadith).Islamliterally means "submission (to God)."Muslim, the word for an adherent of Islam, is the active participle of the same verb of whichIslāmis the infinitive (see Islam (term)). Islam may see as an Arabian religion, but less than 15% of Muslims are Arabs. Many Arabs follow different Religions for example Christianity. With the rise of Islam in the 7th century CE as the language of the Qur'an, Arabic became the lingua franca of the wider Mediterranean region. It was in this period that Arabic language and culture was widely disseminated with the early Islamic expansion, both through conquest and cultural contact. Arabic culture and language, however, began a more limited diffusion before the Islamic age, first spreading in West Asia beginning in the 2nd century, as Arab Christians such as the Ghassanids,Lakhmids and Banu Judham began migrating north from Arabia into the Syrian Desert and the Levant.
