Abstract: This article reviews the current scientific evidence for BE55 plant extract in improving anxiety, depression and epilepsy. BE55 plant extract is probably the only available standardized extract of Bacopa with the optimal concentrations of bacosides to provide significant effect. Bacopa is a plant that has been used for centuries as a brain tonic to enhance memory development and learning and may be beneficial in warding off dementia and age-related memory loss. It is also shown to provide relief to patients with anxiety or epileptic disorders Introduction Bacopa monniera, also referred to asBacopa monnieri,Herpestis monniera, water hyssop, and "Brahmi," has been used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine for centuries. Traditionally, it was used as a brain tonic to enhance memory development, learning, and concentration (1), and to provide relief to patients with anxiety or epileptic disorders (2). Bacopa's antioxidant properties may offer protection from free radical damage in cardiovascular disease and certain types of cancer. The constituents responsible for Bacopa's cognitive effects are bacosides A and B (3-7). BE55 plant extract is a proprietary standardized extract ofBacopa monnieraand probably the only Bacopa extract that has been standardized. BE55 is standardized to 55-percent combined bacosides A and B. This combination of bacosides A and B provide optimal results. It is not known whether there are other Bacopa extracts available with this optimal combination of bacosides A and B. Standardization of herbs or plant extracts is important for comparing herbal therapy with conventional medicines. Standardization is also important for the delivery of the correct dose in a consistent manner. How does BE55 Plant Extract work?. …………………..a complete text copy of this article is available at or click on this link ?pid=38&mcid=18" ?pid=38&mcid=18
