The whole world wants to know what the keys are to Susan Boyle’s success. Here are nine listed for you:
Passion
The judges and audience openly snickered, but this made no difference to Susan Boyle, when she said. “I’m tryin to be a professional singer.” She was passionate about the vision of where she was headed. Without being passionate about where you want to be five years from now, you will never succeed.
Ability to Accept Risk
Standing alone and vulnerable with thousands against you, would you have had the courage to accept the risk and keep going? Or would you have become too knotted up with fear and humiliation, or stage-fright? Susan said “You have to go on, don’t you?” when asked how she felt at that moment.
High Self-Esteem
Susan has a straight forward understanding of her talents, without being bigheaded or egotistical. Susan is a down to earth person who lives in the poorest area of Scotland. People hadn’t given her a chance up until now. Susan however, never had any self-doubt - the major destroyer of a thousand dreams. “I’m going to rock that audience,” she said in a-joking voice before going out and facing the thousands.
Persistence
Susan is almost 48 years of age. Would you hold onto a dream for that length of time? Susan’s voice didn’t mature in just a few years.
Discipline
You will get nowhere without self-imposed discipline. To ascend the dizzy heights of success you must have the discipline to follow through, no matter what is thrown at you. Susan did what she needed to do, even when it would have been easier to give up. She had the willpower to compel herself onwards. Self-discipline is never an easy thing, even for the most successful of people.
Non-egotistical
No one likes to be near a person, who has a self-inflated ego, no matter how successful they are. The judges of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ have made the decision they won’t subject Susan to a make-over yet. The frumpy, unemployed, volunteer church worker, could easily be your neighbour. She is however, comfortable with herself.
Patience
Rome wasn’t built in a day. The well worn clichés go on and on. Yet they are so true. It took Susan almost 48 years to arrive at overnight stardom. She had the patience to keep going, no matter what was thrown against her.
Focus
Susan says, “Now I’ll get focused, (for the next part of the reality talent show)”. Unless you are prepared to stay focused and not let yourself be side-tracked, you will never achieve your dreams.
Talent
And of course Susan has the wonderful gift of talent. The ability to do something naturally this is out of the ordinary. You simply need to recognize what your talent is.
Susan’s dreams finally came true. So can yours, if you will only Have Discipline, Persevere, be Patient, never give up and don’t be afraid to see yourself the way others do. There is always something else to learn.
