Most people don't realize this but ingredients in anti aging skin care products may be stealing their money, and health.

I have grown tired of anti aging products that don't do what they claim to or that have ingredients that can actually do more harm to our bodies, counteracting the healthy habits that we do have.

Our skin is our largest organ. Whatever, we put on it is absorbed directly into the liver, which tries to cleanse the blood of impurities or toxins. If we overwhelm it with poisons, the liver fights a losing battle resulting in damage to our personal health systems.

Let's face it, the cosmetic industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that is growing every day. People will spend thousands of dollars to look good. As the demand for such products grow, the manufacturers will flood the market with products to capitalize on this market. And this is where danger enters into the picture.

So many modern products are rushed onto the market shelves to meet the consumer's demand without any real research and development going into it before hand. So much of the money is placed into marketing the product, ensuring sales instead of the consumer's health.

It's understandable from the manufacturer's perspective. When you pay allot of money for the marketing, advertisements, and pretty containers, you're going to have to charge allot for the products or lose money.

However, you and I don't have to fall for this. But, avoiding it means, we will have to do the research ourselves. Before we open up our wallets and spend the money, we need to know what we are getting in return.

Think about it, we may regularly check the back of food cans for the ingredient listing. We make sure that what we eat is healthy for us. Shouldn't we do at least as much diligence in checking the labels of our anti aging skin care creams and lotions, as well as our cosmetics?

Many anti aging skin care products are loaded with ingredients that over time, endangers our health. Ingredients such as:

  • Mineral oil-may also called liquid paraffin, paraffin wax, and petrolatum on the product label. It's a cheap ingredient for the manufacturers to use. Mineral oil smothers the skin, preventing it from breathing. Clogging pores, and interfering with your skin's natural ability to eliminate toxins. The result is acne flare ups, irritation, chapping, dryness and premature aging of the skin.
  • Dioxane- often, containing high concentrations of 1,4-dioxane. In California it is considered a dangerous chemical, "known to cause cancer".
  • Fragrances- many fragrances are produced from ingredients know to be carcinogenic or toxic.
  • Parabens-methyl, propyl, butyl and ethyl paraben are commonly used as a preservative. Studies have suggested that they cause cancer, allergic reactions, skin rashes, and interfere with the body's endocrine system.
  • Alcohols-ethanol, ethyl alcohol, methanol, benzyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol and SD alcohol are very drying and irritating to the skin, stripping away your skin's natural acid mantle, which then exposes you to the dangers of bacteria, molds and viruses.

Remember your skin is your largest organ and anything that you touch can easily be absorbed thru the skin. Anti aging skin care products are usually applied all over the face, neck and body, covering a large surface area. As a result, you absorb a great deal of chemicals, resulting in health challenges, not to mention wasted money that didn't achieve what it promised to.

Now that you are armed with this information, I suggest you investigate for yourself ingredients that are actually good for you. Life is short as it is and you don't need to play Russian roulette, by using ingredients in your anti aging skin care routine that can do more damage to your health.
