Thousands of people every year die because of smoking. This alarming figure is the reason why many smokers now are realizing the potential dangers of smoking on them and their loved ones. But then why still quitting to smoke is easier said than done? Why so many people fail while trying to quit smoking? The answer to all these questions is usually the same-- the lack of will power and lack of education. Smoking has been attributed to various forms of cancer the end result of which is usually death. Even worse smoking does not only kill you but also the people around you while you are smoking. Many people decide to give up on smoking every year, and the good news is, a majority of them even get successful in their endeavour. Below given are some important things to be remembered while trying to quit smoking: - Give yourself a strong reason to quit. Scare yourself into quitting. Think of all the bad things that can happen if you continue to smoke. Go on to the internet and find out about the damage that smoking causes to your lungs. Look at some pictures of damaged lungs and then think about your own lungs.
- Find someone who has recently given up on smoking and then use his experience to motivate yourself. If possible join a club or group of people who have just given up smoking. You can easily find information about such groups on the internet. They can be a very good source of inspiration and a way of helping you while trying to quit smoking.
- Never rush into the quitting process. Take it step by step or even cigarette by cigarette. First start cutting back your consumption by 10 to 20 percent and then gradually move on. Practice deep breathing to help you overcome that rare craving you experience while quitting.
Take one step everyday in the positive direction and experience how better you would become one day!
