There is no question that finding a tinnitus cure can seem overwhelming. Many of us who struggle with the annoyance of minor ringing in the ears wonder if it warrants a trip to the doctor. We may know of other people who have ear noise and may understand that it is not life threatening, so we try to live with it. In fact, thirty six million people suffer from tinnitus. But a tinnitus cure is possible and when you understand the nature of the condition, it is possible to find an appropriate treatment plan.

Before You Can Find A Plan Of Treatment You Have To Learn The Cause

Tinnitus is caused by a variety of things. This is what makes it difficult to find a tinnitus cure. You must first track down the cause. The most common cause of tinnitus is minor hearing loss due to age or damage to the ear from exposure to loud noises. Listening to loud music or working in an environment with loud equipment is a very common cause of bothersome ear noise.

A little bit of ear noise is normal. If you were to spend time in a completely quiet location, you would discover there is some noise that you don't notice under normal circumstances. This is one reason why many people who are bothered by tinnitus notice it most at night when they climb in bed and turn off the light. This is when a tinnitus cure seems most important.

Damage to or impairment of the hearing nerves is what causes tinnitus in this situation. The best cure for tinnitus of this type is to avoid exposure to loud noises. There is little we can do about the damage that has already been done but we can avoid future damage by wearing ear plugs at work and keep the volume on music at a comfortable level. While there may not be a cure for tinnitus of this type there are ways to make living with it a little easier. Using some form of background noise at night can be extremely helpful. Biofeedback can also help you learn how to tune out the sound.

Tinnitus Can Be Caused By Physical Conditions, Too

Occasionally, tinnitus can be caused by something as simple as ear wax buildup or a minor ear infection. In this case, a tinnitus cure can be as easy as a visit to the doctor or the purchase of an over the counter product to remove ear wax. It's a good idea to consult with your doctor to see if there is an obvious cause for the tinnitus. Sometimes certain medications, such as aspirin and certain antibiotics can cause ear noise. High blood pressure is also a known trigger.

A Holistic Approach To Treating Tinnitus Can Work Very Well

Your doctor may be able to pinpoint a cause for your condition but a tinnitus cure may be best found by taking a holistic approach to treatment. Common sense suggests you limit exposure to loud noises but there are other options as well. Caffeine, alcohol and cigarette smoking can aggravate or cause tinnitus. Avoiding these substances may bring results. If high blood pressure is a potential cause, cutting down the intake of salt and salty foods may not only improve your tinnitus but lower your blood pressure as well.

Holistic practitioners often suggest a variety of herbs and minerals to treat and cure tinnitus. Gingko Biloba is a popular treatment for a variety of conditions such as concentration, headaches, dizziness, depression and tinnitus.

Black cohosh and hawthorn are two others herbs prescribed. Vitamin deficiencies or vitamin overuse can contribute to tinnitus. It is wise, therefore, to stick with a single multiple vitamin and mineral supplement while finding a cure for tinnitus.
