When you are giving a speech or presentation, much of the time you will need some notes so that you can remember what to talk about.  Learn some strategies to having proper notes for your speech and some different variations to consider.

If you are giving a short speech of around five minutes, you really don't need notes.  You can prepare this speech and do it from memory.  Just have a few main points that you remember and go from one point to another.  If you have a longer speech or presentation, you will need some notes

One of the very common way of having your notes is by having a Power Point presentation.  If you know the topic well enough, the points on the presentation will jog your memory enough so that you can continue giving the presentation.  The advantage of this is that you don't have to have any other notes that might be distracting as you and the audience are both looking at what's on the screen.

Some people feel comfortable with something called a manuscript.  This means that you literally write your speech out word for word on paper.  To some this relaxes them knowing that all the material is right there in front of them.  If you do this, don't read the text.  You still need to know your presentation well enough that you could technically do it without the notes.  If you do get nervous or forget, you can glance down and get your points and move through the manuscript until you are done

Another way of having notes is to have your major points and subpoints down on paper or on cards.  These will keep your speech going as you know what topic to move to next.  There is less chance that you will end up reading your notes as there is not enough to actually read.
