Many of these you may have heard from your friends and relatives or read in beauty magazines, but here is quick list to help you know them at a glance.

  1. The first and foremost is consumption of healthy diet rich in protein and vitamins like A,C and E. Avoiding junk food and caffeine, nicotine and alcohol boosts hair growth. Diet should be supplemented by sufficient amount of water intake and regular exercise for best results. Yoga such as headstand, cow, cobra or camel pose also promotes hair growth.

  1. You should go for a good amount of sleep at night and give time to rest and relax yourself. Excessive stress and tension retard hair growth.

  1. Always use a clean and good quality brush or comb for your hair. Brushing wet hair should also be avoided unless it is necessary. Don't rub it vigorously with towel

  1. Regular washing of hair with shampoo, suiting hair-type and containing natural ingredients cleans the hair and the scalp from toxins. It thus makes the hair shiny and healthy. Conditioning it is also crucial.

  1. You should also avoid chlorine or saltwater. After swimming you should shampoo your hair. Use a conditioner with high SPF protection if you have to be in the sun for long.

  1. Applying oil to the hair and roots leave it well-nourished. It can be done twice or thrice a week. Almond, coconut or olive oil can be used fore good hair growth. Complement them with essential oils like jojoba, rosemary, tea tree for improving the quality of hair.

  1. Head massage is not only relaxing but is also beneficial for healthy hair. It improves blood circulation, stimulates cells and strengthens hair follicles. Oil massage before going to bed has magical effect on the hair.

  1. Trimming your hair for getting rid of split and dead ends is also recommended. Although it seems contradictory, cutting off damaged portions really helps.

  1. You should not go for hair styles that stress your mane. Instead stick to something natural and light that does not require tugging and damaging of hair. Again styling tools like straighteners, rollers and dryers should be restricted. Another thing to avoid is too much hair dryer. Heat from the dryer make your hair dry and brittle and so susceptible to breakage.
