Are you tired of trying to quit smoking or how many times did you try but failed? In your attempt to quit have you really succeeded? Even after knowing its disastrous effects do you tend to have that heavenly feeling by just a "puff"? If you say "yes", then it's time to read below the tips on how to quit smoking. So here are some:

1. Make a list and know why do you want to quit? "Since it is bad" is not an enough reason. You need a more motivating and powerful reason. A reason like fear of lung cancer which outweighs your urge to light up is a strong reason.

2. Don't rely on cold turkey since it may seem tempting but it is not an easy process. The reason is that nicotine is addictive and in its absence the craving exists in the brain. So it's good to apply nicotine replacement therapy which according to studies has proved very effective in reducing the withdrawal symptoms like depression and anxiety.

3. You should ask your doctor for prescription pills which reduce your urges by affecting the chemicals in your brain.

4. Another tip is to share with your close friends and family members since they are the ones who can motivate and encourage you towards your goal to quit. Behavioral therapy can also enhance your chances of success.

5. Try to manage your stress since people indulge in it because they are stressed. Try to indulge yourself in activities which relax you and overwhelm you like massaging, listening music, playing games etc.

6. Certain acts of your routine life boost your urge to smoke so it better to avoid them like having alcohol or coffee in some. Even after meals, one can brush to avoid it.

7. Once you quit smoking you should clean up your house which includes ashtrays, cigarettes etc. Motive is to try and try again since these remind you to smoke. Be committed to your decision to quit and be affirmative. Try relapse.

8. Physical exercises and daily activities are one of the best ways to make a healthy regime. Jogging or even mild walking with your dog can help you reduce your cravings to a large extent.

9. Intake of healthy fruits and vegetables makes cigarettes taste terrible. So don't try to diet but indulge in fruits and low calorie dairy products in your diet.

10. Spend the money you save by not "smoking". Rewarding yourself is a very encouraging way to boost your commitment. So go and shop!!

Last but not least do it for yourself. More than monetary rewards you reward yourself, your health and your life by quitting. Risk of heart attack and lung cancer reduces with every cigarette you quit, so follow these great tips on how to quit smoking and start living a healthy life.
