Depression is a treatable mental disorder. As soon as you realize that you are facing depression you can quit it easily. Helping yourself to treat depression is a simple process. Instead of being a patient of depression try to overcome the reasons, which are causing depression. If you are feeling low self-esteem and thoughts of loss are prevailing around your mind then you may face depression. You can be your own doctor, by treating yourself in a way that you can easily come out of depression. The people suffering from depression are usually hopeless. They think that they have dark future, with nothing pleasant in their life. Their perspective about the world is quite negative and overall they are in a deep state of distortion. People with such thoughts think that they are precisely right and there is nothing left in their life that may bring happiness and joy for them. They need cognitive therapy which is also called thought therapy. It will help changing their perplexed thinking. They should motive themselves to consider the brighter sides of life and learn to be strong to face mishaps manfully. Another tip they can follow is to read books of their interest. Books really help in self treatment. While reading a book you just concentrate on words and forget your thoughts. Another issue is that when you are depressed then you are not interested in doing anything, and you neglect your duties, which increase a state of depression and guilt. Once you will engage yourself in doing some activity, you will forget depressive thinking. So try to figure out a busy routine that keeps you involved in different activities. You can best treat yourself because any other person cannot feel the way you feel about your inner feelings.
