A boil is an accumulation of pus concentrated in a small area and surrounded by inflamed tissue in the skin.
A boil is an inflamed area of the skin, usually located in a hair follicle. It can be caused by a physical condition such as acne, diabetes, or severe dermatitis. It can also be brought about by low immunity, stress, food allergy, poor diet, irritations, an illness, shaving, plucking hairs or poor hygiene. Boils begin as a reddened tender area and after a while, the area around it becomes firm and hard. Finally the pus forms a head, which can be surgically opened or drained out through the surface of the skin. The head is made up of bacteria (Staphylococcus) and white blood cells which fight the infection (pus).

Treating Boils On Buttocks

Boils on buttocks are primarily caused by bacteria, germs and friction. Boils on buttocks generally start out as a tender growth, or red spot. When a boil is located in the cleft of the buttock cheeks, which is normal with most pilonidal cysts, a medical practitioner may be required to perform any incision and drainage. For other boils that may exist on the cheek of the buttocks, a simple sitz bath performed several times a day should bring the boil to a head and drain quite well. Adding some Epsom salts to the sitz bath can be quite therapeutic. It is also very important to make it a point to keep your bowel movements healthy as well as follow a regular exercise regimen.

Homemade Remedies for Boils

  • Mix ground cumin seeds in water to form a paste then apply the paste to the boils for good results.
  • A Hot Compress. Use a wash cloth soaked in hot water and apply the hot compress to the boil several times daily. The heat will help bring the boil to a head. This should be done several times a day and the compress should be as hot as you can tolerate it.
  • Gently warm a betel leaf until it becomes soft. Coat it with a layer of Castor oil and put it over the inflamed boil. Replace the leaf every few hours. After a few applications of the Castor oil coated betel leaf the boil will rupture and drain.
  • Crush, grind, or chop garlic and/or onion and put into a cheese cloth and place the cloth on the affected area. This can help bring the boil to a head faster.
  • Application of turmeric powder on the boil causes it to come to a head and burst.
  • Juice of onion or garlic when applied externally on boils helps to bring them to a head and drain out the pus.
  • Castor bark is beneficial in getting rid of boils quickly. Grind up some castor bark into powder and add water to make a paste. Apply this paste to the boils once a day.
  • One teaspoon of milk cream mixed with 1/2 teaspoon of vinegar and a pinch of turmeric powder to form a paste. When applied, it helps to bring the boil to a head and heals it without becoming septic.

Be should to exercise all precautions when following directions on the recipes from this article. Avoid using if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
