It's been a long and challenging day at the office. You come home to a little peace and quiet and to relax your tired body and weary soul. But just as he is about to fall asleep, your partner starts to snore! It was just a soft sound asleep at first but gradually the snoring becomes louder and louder until it has been able to sleep more!

Complications - Snoring can have its own share of emotional impact. You can get ridiculed for being a loud snorer. Your friends may begin to cancel scheduled visits and sleepovers. What's more, the snoring can even lead to serious relationship discord! In a 4900 study based on snoring couples, it was reported that at least 80% of all subjects ended up sleeping in separate rooms - and some even ended up signing your divorce papers! And yes, it all started with the issue of snoring.

Snoring is not just a nuisance at night - can be a sign of more serious medical problem that requires immediate medical attention. From the person who snores is deprived of his well-deserved rest during the night, habitual snoring may lead to daytime sleepiness. It can even lead to the development of sleep apnea - a condition characterized by heavy snoring that is interrupted by frequent episodes of obstructed breathing.

Sleep apnea can be fatal. It makes the body's oxygen level to fall and asks the heart to pump even more just to meet the body's oxygen requirement optimally. Sleep apnea may even lead to serious medical complications - such as diabetes and various heart diseases like high blood pressure, stroke and heart attack. Even death is not a possibility far when one is afflicted with this problem to sleep.

Seeking Medical Advice - Snoring should never be taken lightly. habitual snorers should seek proper medical care to eliminate the possibility of sleep apnea or otherwise, you have been treated as such. Your family doctor can refer you to an ear, nose and throat, or to a sleep specialist for a more thorough evaluation of your sleep habits and snoring problem. Your partner may even be called for an interview, in order to gauge the severity of their condition.

To solve the problem, first with your doctor can call to make some lifestyle changes. He or she may advise you to lose some weight (if overweight), moderate to do some exercises, avoiding caffeine, stop smoking and avoid alcohol so close to bedtime. Similarly, you may be advised to avoid taking tranquilizers, sleeping pills and antihistamines before retiring for the night. Your doctor may also recommend to make some changes in their sleep habits, like sleeping on your side rather than lying on your back and raise the head of your bed.

If these remedies do not work, your doctor may recommend one of the following techniques and treatments:

o Use oral appliances - These spokespersons dental can help keep your airways open while you sleep and keep your snoring problem under control. Just remember to visit your dentist once every month during the first six months and then at least once a year to ensure that the nozzle that fits properly.

o undergo surgery - There are several surgical procedures that can correct your problem. You may be advised to undergo traditional surgery (ovulopalatopharyngoplasty or UPPP) to tighten the throat and palate tissues or undergo a thermal ablation palatoplasty (TAP). TAP includes procedures such as bipolar cautery, lased treatment and radiofrequency ablation. Another surgical procedure used to treat sleep apnea is genioglossus and hyoid advancement. This procedure removes the muscles of the tongue forward and prevents the throat from collapsing prices.

o sleep with the mask! In cases where surgery is too risky to perform, you can choose to use CPAP every night while you sleep. CPAP or continuous positive pressure airway "is a nasal mask that provides air pressure to the throat to prevent obstruction of respiration and therefore prevent snoring.
