Mother nature is pretty clever you know – some of the best spa beauty treatments are made from natural ingredients, and you can recreate them at home for a fraction of the cost! Turn your bathroom into a home-spa and relax with these luxurious homemade skin, hair and body treatments. For Gorgeous Skin: - Cucumber is refreshing and helps to soften skin, stimulate new cell production and gently tone. Mash or blend 3 peeled cucumbers, then apply to skin with a sponge while showering. Rinse well.
- Make your own body scrub by combining equal parts of salt or sugar (Epsom or sea salt is fantastic for exfoliation, and brown sugar is better for more sensitive skin) and oil (almond, vegetable, coconut oils are great). Add a few drops of your choice of essential oil for a beautiful smell. Apply to body in circular motions whilst in the bath or shower to help combat cellulite and leave skin exfoliated.
- Fill a muslin or thin cotton with rolled/porridge oats and hang beneath the tap while running a bath. This gorgeous, creamy bath treatment helps sooth sore or dry skin, and leaves your body feeling moisturised and smooth.
- Create a divine face mask with ingredients from your kitchen! Mash together the flesh of an avocado with a ripe banana, add 1 tbsp of honey, 1 tbsp of olive oil and 2 tbsp plain yogurt. Apply gently to face and neck, massaging in small circular motions as you do so. Leave for at least 20 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
For Beautiful Hair: - Rejuvinate damaged hair with this natural cream treatment. Blend 1 egg, 2 tbsp of olive oil and a third of a peeled cucumber to a paste. Massage into hair and scalp and leave for at least 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
- Deep-condition your hair with this homemade ingredient – massage 4 tbsp of fresh mayonnaise (yes really!) into damp hair, wrap your head in a towel and leave to work its magic for at least 15 minutes. Follow up with the natural shampoo recipe below.
- Mix your own natural shampoo with just 4 ingredients: 2 tbps of olive oil, 1 egg, 1 tbsp of lemon juice and 1tbsp of apple cider vinegar. Massage into hair and scalp and rinse thoroughly.
We all love to pamper ourselves, and there's no reason to spend the earth at expensive, exclusive spas. Turn your bathroom into a heavenly oasis of relaxation and beautify yourself! Showerlux can help you truly create a luxurious bathroom with our range of designer shower enclosures and bespoke design service .
