Many of us just enjoy the comfort derived from using a pillow to support the body when sleeping or sitting, but rarely take the time to appreciate the many different types of pillows there are. Having a little knowledge on this issue goes a long way in helping us chose the right pillow for the right occasion. Knowing the pillows by name also helps us when shopping because, we can ask for them by their names.
There are decorative pillows that are meant to purposely improve the outlook of a home. Most of them come as a square shape and can be placed either in the sitting room, lounge area or in the bedroom. If they are placed in the bedroom, they are removed from the bed at bedtime. Naps in the living area can be as good as in the bedroom when one uses the decorative pillows for support. They can also be used to give support to the sick people. You will hear decorative pillows being referred to as sofa, accent, toss or floor pillows. They all refer to the same thing.
Since they are decorative, they come in all manner of shapes and textures. For example, there are the heart shaped, the bone shaped ones and also the cat shaped ones. The shapes add beauty and authenticity to the area as well as lighten up the mood. You can look around for more unique shapes, sizes and colors when you need to add glamour to your house.
The other type of pillows available are the bed pillows, which are basically used for supporting the head and neck while sleeping. They come in rectangular shapes and are in most cases covered with pillow cases. Under this category are body pillows, which are as long as ones body. They provide support for the knees, head, legs and neck. Pregnant women and side sleepers are highly encouraged to make use of them for a refreshing rest.
